About the Retreat

Whole Hearted Medicine provides CPD Accredited Wellbeing Education across Australia and New Zealand, as the region's first and leading provider of wellbeing education for doctors.

Grounded in evidence-based psychological frameworks such as Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Self-Compassion Theory, this retreat supports doctors in developing practical strategies for managing stress, preventing burnout, and enhancing emotional agility- both in their professional and personal lives.

Over four days of deep learning, guided mindfulness practice, and peer connection, this retreat offers a rare opportunity to step away from the pressures of clinical work and focus on sustainable self-care and professional growth. With structured content designed to ensure psychological safety and support adult learning, participants leave with actionable skills that integrate seamlessly into their daily practice.

Hear From Other Doctors

Even with a longstanding interest in mindfulness and wellbeing, the educational framework and format provided an important opportunity to pause and reconnect with these principles. The experience reinforced practices that I have since reintegrated more intentionally into my work and leadership. It has strengthened my ability not only to sustain my own wellbeing in medicine, but also to support colleagues and teams to do the same.

A wonderful course. I walked straight back into a maelstrom. I would not have emerged in nearly the same shape without this preparation ("You don't learn to swim when you are drowning!") Thank you Emily.

About the Location

SOMA Byron Bay: Nature, Stillness, and Subtle Transformation

Just ten minutes from the heart of Byron Bay, SOMA rests gently on 22 acres of pristine rainforest- a tranquil, architecturally designed haven where the natural world holds space for restoration and reflection. Towering bamboo, ancient trees, and quiet walking paths invite a slowing down that feels both rare and necessary.

The land here has long been recognised by Indigenous Australians as a place of deep healing, and it holds that energy still. Within this setting, the gentle soundscape of rustling leaves and birdsong replaces the urgency of alarms and notifications. SOMA’s signature geodesic dome, framed by soaring bamboo, becomes a sanctuary for learning, dialogue, and stillness.

Each detail of the environment is intentionally crafted to support the retreat experience: from the magnesium pool that eases tension, to nourishing, shared meals that sustain clarity and calm. Whether gathered in shared reflection or walking alone among the trees, participants are gently invited to soften- body, mind, and pace.
